As a creative person when I get stuck or faced with a mental block while working on an important project I sometimes redirect my attention and focus on doing something fun and funky (crazy). It helps me regain my focus and aids in my ability to work effectively. Well, giving our white (read boring) fridge a face lift was a spur of the moment idea and literally in minutes I transformed the entire fridge into a focal point. The whole time I was thinking on how it will be perceived by the members of my family. I knew my daughter will be ecstatic. I came home after my husband and as soon I saw his facial expression the way he greeted me I knew he liked the fridge. I am a big fan of easy and simple DIY projects. This one was no exception. I already had the paper and have used it in my other projects. Light blue and this pattern are my favorites. So, here is how I started. Firstly, I wiped down the fridge and removed some magnets. Took the first photo and proceeded in measuring and cutting. I did measure like a hundred times before cutting it once. Since the fridge is tucked in this little space I only needed to cover the front. The hardest part however was the area by the handles. The good part about this adhesive paper is that you can remove and re-apply-it doesn't lose it's adhesiveness.
Don't we all love before and after pictures?
I started from the freezer door. After covering the entire door, I poured myself some coffee, and sat down to admire my project. It compliments the other kitchen accessories and helps the overall look and feel. My only worry was not to overwhelm the kitchen. It's easy to go from focal point to an eyesore. Because of the light colored paper and the pattern it worked.
Work in progress. Then I had a minor problem. It was easily fixable.
It's all in the detail. I like how smooth and seamless it turned out.
The best part is that you can still use magnets. But who needs to clutter this pretty fridge?
The sunflowers are blooming in our garden right now.
Do you notice that the dishtowel has the same pattern as the fridge paper? Have you noticed that same pattern anywhere else in the photos?
The following pictures are taken very early in the morning.
So, what do you think? Funky and fresh? Yes! Crazy? Maybe. But we all need some craziness in our life.
What can you make today?
